Behind the Scenes with Liz Crowe

Behind the Scenes with The Realtors

The Closing Table

Sara raced in the door of Arbor Title, still trying to calm a new buyer down on one line, texts from a spitting mad seller dinging in her ear. She nodded at the front desk, and the girl there pointed down the hall. She saw Jack, hanging around outside one of the rooms, and her face got red hot, remembering what they’d done last night.

“Safeword baby, if you need to,” his deep voice swirled in her head and she had to grip the wall to keep from falling out of her shoes. But the yammering idiot on the other end of the line kept her grounded. Jack saw her and grinned, raising and eyebrow and touching a fingertip to his lips but she frowned at him and turned away.

She talked the new buyer off the ledge, and turned off her phone, smiled fixed in place for the super pain in the ass people who were finally closing today. It would be one of those closings: separate rooms for buyer and seller, with attorneys for both on hand, pretentious and annoying, making the entire process run about an hour and a half longer than necessary. She sighed, straightened her skirt and shoved thoughts of Jack had nipple clamps right out of her head.

“Hi guys!” she chirped, taking a seat next to the somber couple. Their equally angry looking lawyer didn’t even look up at her. “Anyone need coffee? A bagel?” A Bloody Mary?

Then shook their heads and the fun got underway the moment the closing officer returned from the seller’s room. Sara’s jaw clenched. The seller had been Jack’s last lover before they’d met. A slinky older blond lady who’d gotten a little more than ahead of herself and bragged around town that she and Jack were getting married. Sara tried not to picture them in there, together, the predatory woman’s eyes and who knew what else all over him. Cut the crap Sara, focus.

The next hour was utter torture as both attorneys kept raising issues with the paperwork they had both already seen three days ago. Fucking assholes. She sighed and glanced at her phone. Blushing furiously she leaned back to read Jack’s text.

I wish I were in there with you right now. I’d have my hand on her leg. You’d move so I could reach between your creamy thighs.

She answered him back.

My thighs are not creamy.

They were last night.

She shifted in her seat, as heat gathered between her legs. Bastard.

She shot back.

Cut the crap Jack I’m trying to work.

His response was nearly instant.

So am I baby. But it’s hard when I’m this hard.

She rolled her eyes.

Tell the blonde lady to stop touching you then.

He answered.

She wishes.

Then after a few more minutes of hemming and hawing from her clients that she studiously ignored, letting their high priced attorney convince them they weren’t getting screwed, he send another one.

You liked that ass play last night didn’t you? I know I did. Wanna try some more?

She tried not to groan outloud.

Jesus, Jack cut it out.

After a few seconds she got her answer.

No. I’m bored out of my ever loving mind so either sext me back or meet me in the back hallway. The more I get from you the more I want you minx.

She shot back, suddenly needing his hands on her so badly she could explode: five minutes. Second floor, back office.

“Excuse me a few minutes would you?” Her clients looked up at her as if surprised she were still in the room. The attorney mumbled something about a delay. She shrugged and walked out, her nerve endings buzzing as she climbed the back steps to the second floor.

She eased open the door in an unused hallway full of old desks and computer equipment, gasping when hands gripped and spun her around. Pushing her against the wall, Jack covered her mouth, yanked her skirt up and found her bare sex, pressing against it as he owned her with his tongue.

“Grab my cock Sara before I come in my pants.” She sighed as he ran his lips down her neck, unzipped him and eased his shaft out, fisting his head, as she gripped his shoulder.

“I feel you baby.” He muttered, his lips near her ear. “You’re gonna come, aren’t you? You’re already ready for me.” She moaned and moved her hand along his flesh, faster, with purpose.

“Oh yes,” She hissed and spread her legs wider so he could get a better angle. The room darkened, her ears shut out everything but the sound of their breathing. He tilted his hips and thrust against her. “I am gonna come Jack. But you are gonna come with me,” He leaned into her neck, his skin hot, his breathing fast and shallow.

“Yep, I am,” He sighed and propped himself on the wall, shoved his fingers high inside her keeping his thumb pressed firmly against her clit. “Now.”

Sara made her wobbly way down, stepped into the bathroom to clean up and wash her hands, then looked at the dour looks on everyone’s faces in the room. “So,” she clapped her hands together “What did I miss?”

She heard Jack’s voice in the next room, laughing as rejoined his group. It sent a chill straight down her spine and brought a huge grin to her face.

Compromising Kessen by Rahcel VanDyken

Who says that you can’t fall in love with the one person in life you have learned to despise? Kessen Newberry and Christian Vandenbrook become the absolute epitome of a love/hate relationship in Compromising Kessen, by Rahcel VanDyken. The crazy journey that this pair embarks on is one that is comparable to a fairytale, and may just have the ability to make you completely swoon.
The last thing career-driven Kessen Newberry wants is to leave her home in Colorado to spend a Season in London, far away from her job, her friends and the memories of her mother. However, her father, the Earl of Newberry, threatens to disinherit her unless she gets in touch with her British roots. She complies, but has no intention of enjoying the experience.
That is until she meets Christian Vandenbrook, the arrogant and irritatingly handsome future Duke of Albany and her father’s business partner. Unfortunately, Christian hates Americans. And coffee. And apparently, Kessen.
A hatred this passionate can only lead to one thing… marriage.
Caught in the middle of a Regency-inspired nightmare, Kessen and Christian are forced to marry in only one week’s time. Resigned to their fate, the two resolve to give the relationship a chance—which would be much easier if everyone would stop interrupting them every time they found a moment alone.
Kessan is an ambitious twenty-five year old, Colorado born woman. She dreams of taking over one of her father’s many successful Newberry and Co. businesses one day. She has worked hard to receive an education worthy of doing so, and her time has finally come. Unfortunately, her father believes that in order for her to successfully run a British based company, she needs to become more accustom with their British heritage. Her father guilt’s her into visiting his native land for a season in order to learn more about his culture. To Kessen, a season is winter, spring, summer, or fall. To her father, a prominent Duke of Newberry, a season is a time where young woman are introduced to society, and possibly married off to another important member of society. Kessen is in shock that her father wants her to do such a thing, but after the death of her mother, Kessen is willing to do anything to make her father happy once again, even if it is something as asinine as this age old tradition.

When arriving in England, Kessen is immediately introduced to an infuriatingly annoying, yet absolutely gorgeous man named Christian. He is so arrogant and rude during their first introduction that Kessen can’t help but begin to hate him. He teases her constantly, and makes rude assumptions about her to the point that the pair participate in a verbal shouting match when they first meet. She feels borderline violent towards this man, but at the same time she can’t help but notice how kissable his lips are.

As vice president of marketing at the London based Newberry and Co, and the future Duke of Albany, Christian is given the duty of tour guide to Kessen when she gets into town. Before they are even introduced, Christian has stereo typed Kessen as a spoiled, American brat, with the most ungrateful attitude imaginable. He vows to make her life miserable while she is in town. Then he meets her, and all stereo types he envisioned are slowly loosing merit. He still doesn’t believe she is a good person, but every moment he spends with her, causes the physical attraction he feels towards her grow.

Kessen and Christian seemed to be drawn to each other like magnets. They argue one minute, and the next minute they’re necking like teenagers. During one of the many formal balls that are being held in Kessen’s honor, the pair finds themselves in a heated lip lock that becomes a paparazzi’s dream. Not only do the paparazzi take notice, Kessen’s grandmother and Christian’s father spy the private moment as well, and announce that the couple is to be married, immediately. To Christian, this is an answer to his problems. If he didn’t marry soon, he would have lost his trust fund anyway. Now, all he has to do is convince Kessen that this is the right thing for them. Kessen, on the other hand, has no desire to marry right now. She just wants to jump start her career, not her life as a wife. But it doesn’t take long for this new idea to become implanted in Kessen’s head. The pair grows closer every moment they interact, and they learn that along with their faults, they both have many wonderful attributes that they each begin to fall in love with. They even mutually decide to date each other during the week before they are to be married.

Kessen and Christian start to realize they can’t keep their hands off each other no matter how hard they try to stay away. They have chemistry that goes beyond words, and are becoming completely enthralled with one another with every moment that passes. Their greatest wish right now would be to steal a few private and passionate moments together, to see where these kisses lead to. Everyone else seem to have other plans for the couple though, as their best friends and Kessen's grandmother try to keep their alone time minimalized, for virtues sake. With only one week until they are man and wife, can Kessen and Christian come to the realization that love has the ability to form after only a few days? With both of them being very stubborn, and, fearing rejection at the same time, will they finally get on board with one another and admit their love before it’s too late? Time is of the essence, and Kessen and Christian need to make the most of it.

Kessen was so very, very funny. As a stubborn and obstinate woman, she uses humor to win readers like me, over. I was in hysterics with every other word that seemed to exit her mouth. Not only that, I admired her ability to ignore and stand up to the people who seemed to see her as nothing more than a ditzy, power hungry woman from America. I loved her ability to stay true to who she is. She never tried to conform to the standards that a lot of people expected of her. She’s brave, strong, and overall a character who I would stand with if she were my own friend.

Christian had the ability to melt my heat in one sentence. I adored his character. He was never overly demanding, and still obtained a powerful male essence that made me sigh throughout Compromising Kessen. Overall he was a hero that most readers will love to follow.

I am beyond words impressed with Compromising Kessen. The storyline was absolutely wonderful, with a fantastic humorous take on love, and all that goes along with it. Compromising Kessen had me drying my tears from the laughter it brought out of me at twelve o’clock in the morning. Not only that, I literally felt drawn into the lives of these characters. Every part of Compromising Kessen was so detailed and thorough that I felt as if I was living out the story myself. I recommend Compromising Kessen to anyone who loves humorous romances; I even recommend giving it a try if these types of stories don’t appeal to you. Compromising Kessen is definitely a new favorite for me, and I can’t wait to read more by this amazing author.

Lucky for Her by Stephanie Taylor

Can a marriage of convenience really end with a happily ever after? In the sweetly written story entitled Lucky For Her, by Stephanie Taylor, Lucky O’Donnell and Lana Roche are the perfect example of second chances and fairy tale endings.
Lucky certainly lives up to his name. Once the fat kid in school, he's all grown up and taking prisoners, literally. He's the town sheriff and delights in handcuffing idiots. Most people barely recognize him being the fit and trim man he is now.
Lana, pregnant and alone, flees her abusive ex-husband and seeks refuge with her father in her hometown. She doesn't expect to meet a handsome man at a get-together and fall head over heels. Of course, she can't trust herself when it comes to men and she certainly doesn't trust Lucky.
Then Lana finds out who Lucky really is - the fat kid whose invitation she turned down for her senior prom. Fat Jack has now grown into a man that makes her burn inside. He even has a new name. Ashamed of the way she treated him in the past, she tries to walk away, but there's something that pulls her back to him.
Is it the fact that Lucky can protect her from her ex-husband or can love really conquer all?
After suffering from ten long years of physical and mental abuse from her ex-husband, Lana is now divorced and technically a free woman. She no longer has to live in fear of being beaten, but unfortunately, she’s brought along with her a piece of him that she can never erase. She is two months pregnant with his child, and it’s the last thing she could have ever wanted with him. Alone and scared, she moves back home with her father and younger sister. She is more than convinced that her life is over now, that is until she encounters a gorgeous, familiar eyed stranger at the town’s annual Fourth of July celebration.

Seeing the one girl who completely shattered his heart into pieces was not on Lucky’s to do list. Lana is the whole reason he became the changed man he is today. Lucky is no longer “fat Jack” as he was referred to in high school by Lana and her friends. He is now the town’s successful sheriff, and an adorable charming man who can have ladies eating out of the palm of his hand with just a smile and a wink. He can’t help but notice how little Lana has changed when he sees her again. He is unnerved to see her looking just as beautiful as she had been all of those years ago. He thought he was over her, and he most certainly didn’t think she would still be able to make his heart skip a beat when he sees her. On top of it all, Lana doesn’t recognize him as Fat Jack, as a matter of fact, she doesn’t recognize him at all. This is his perfect opportunity for revenge from all the years of pain she caused him. He attempts to seduce her, and believes that a one night stand is just what she deserves. Unfortunately, there is something off about her, and his instincts are to find out what it is instead of inflicting his own revenge.

The pair develops a sort of companionship together, and soon they discover each other’s baggage. Lucky learns of Lana’s former abuse, and her pregnancy. Lana learns the true identity of Lucky, and she admires his ambition to become healthier, even if she feels guilty that she put him through so much as a teenager. Living in a small town with few secrets, the gossip starts flying, and the towns’ people speculate that Lana and Lucky are in fact a couple and expecting a child. This gives Lucky the idea that could very well save Lana from the wrath of her ex if he ever found out about the child. He insists that the pair should marry, and claim to have gotten pregnant quickly into their relationship. This way the pregnancy doesn’t get back to Lana’s ex and she, as well as her baby, are safe from his abuse. For Lucky, this is a dream come true. He gets the girl of his dreams, a ready-made family, and the pride of knowing he ended up with the girl who everyone claimed was way out of his league. It’s an all-around win-win situation for the pair, until feelings start coming into play.

Vowing not to fall in love with Lana again, Lucky fights the chemistry he and Lana share. She’s still everything he desires, and everything he knows he shouldn’t get himself back into. Lana is frightened to get in a relationship with Lucky, even though he’s so sweet and caring with her. She’s been through this stage of a relationship before and believes that at some point, it’s inevitable for it to all go down-hill again. Can this pair figure out what they really want out of this situation, or will it all blow up in their faces once again?

Lucky was so sweet and charming. He was made of pure goodness in my opinion, and I loved how he had the instinct to just swoop in and take care of Lana, even after everything he went through as a teenager. A man of that stature makes all other male characters you read about seem so miniscule. He is truly passionate and loving, and will make you wish he was your own leading man!

Lana was a sad character to read about. She suffered through a lot in life until she finally found the bravery to get past it. She’s admirable in the sense that she is full of unwavering pride, and fought help until the end. I wanted good things to happen to her, and continued to cheer her on until the end.

Overall I felt that Lucky For Her was a wonderful read full of compassion, love, and most of all, hope. I enjoyed the development of the love story between Lana and Lucky. These characters were very well developed, and their backstory was in deed a perfect balance to the storyline itself. In the end, Lucky For Her is a story for anyone who loves a good old “love conquers all” sentiment along with that wonderful “happily ever after” ending, to top it all off!

But as he protects her, he is falling in love with her. Fredrick has his own secrets and begins to understand just how important Bridget is in his life.

Her Devoted Vampire is a wonderfully exciting read as we learn just who Bridget is and who is really out to kill her. Bridget is a strong woman who is not afraid to fight for what she believes in…and in this case, she thinks that Fredrick is crazy and keeping her against her will. Fredrick just doesn’t understand where the threat is coming from.

Her Devoted Vampire is very different than many of the vampire stories out there. Vampires and werewolves are working together. They are still in hiding from the public but have become business owners in the world. Sibhan Muir leaves some extra mysteries that remain unanswered. I look forward to seeing if she answers them in another story with the characters from Her Devoted Vampire.

She has put up a front of being a homely English teacher in hopes of hiding her past "wild child" from view. How would people react to her being involved with not one but two gorgeous men?

Gun Shy is such a cute and one-of-a-kind love story. When you bring together two really good friends who have mischief written all over them and one secretly hot English teacher, you have an up-beat romance with some very hot scenes. Emma Hillman keeps the words light and your head in the clouds with this threesome. Gun Shy is a great book to cuddle up with on those cold windy nights.

Pointing Leaf by Lynde Lakes

A New Zealand Maori sheep farmer named Rad, and a city girl detective name Toni, join together in the novel Pointing Leaf, by Lynde Lakes, to investigate crimes that have been occurring on Rad’s sheep farm. Now, if only these two opposite people can keep professional distance from one another. Otherwise, they are going to have to face the wrath of the attraction that they instantly share.
In her wildest dreams, Toni, city-girldetective, never imagined she would seriously consider the proposal of amuscled, tattooed sheep rancher, with a rope of hair to his waist, dressed in aloin cloth and feathers.
Rad knew the moment he spied the knockoutpetite trespasser, and she pointed the tip of the ritual-leaf at his heart, that she came in war. The war turns deadly when an old enemy vows todestroy and kill Rad. But will this battle end in love or tragedy?
When Toni Conners is first sent on assignment to investigate the rustling of sheep at a Maori farm in New Zealand, she is unaware of the massive changes that this investigation will bring about in her life. She’s a simple minded, hard-edged California born detective, with enough brains to out- smart and outwit any other detective around. She is ready and more than willing to investigate the rustling and the murders that took place on the farm. She is even moderately convinced that it may be connected to the fall and loss of her mother and late step fathers dairy farm as well. Now all she has to do is convince the brawny Maori boss man that she is an able bodied detective who is perfect for the job, even if he only sees her as a weak American born woman.

When the sexy little red head Toni first approaches Radford Manawa-Nui Murdoch outside his ranch home, he is immediately on edge. The little spitfire, and her grassy green eyes bore into him with an intensity he’s never known before, and it greatly unnerves him. The last thing he needs is a non-Maori woman bewitching him. He certainly doesn’t want her on this case. He figures that as a woman, her place is definitely not here. Unfortunately, he just can’t seem to tell her no, and decides to take a chance on her. The last thing he ever thought would happen was that he would fall in love with her.

As the investigations of the rustling and murders move on, Rad and Toni find themselves becoming increasingly attracted to one another. Rad is becoming desperate to keep Toni safe, and around each corner they turn, Toni ends up being the one who seems to come to the rescue of Rad. He’s astonished at the risks that this woman takes, and wants more than anything to be by her side throughout the investigation now. She’s getting to his heart, and he’s not one hundred percent sure that it’s okay. The problem being that Rad has always told himself that he would only fall in love with a woman of Maori culture. He feels torn as to what his heart feels, and what his head says at the same time. He continuously fights to get over the growing feelings that she invokes on him, even though all signs say she is the woman for him. Toni, on the other hand, has a more immediate answer; she’s fallen in love with this gorgeous man. He brings forth in her a woman, waiting to erupt with love and passion. Now all she can do is wait and see whether he feels the same way. So along with mystery, intrigue, and danger, Rad and Toni now have to deal with feelings of newness and growing love.

Rad is a confused man. He holds a deep passion for his Maori culture and wants to honor his late grandmother by choosing a wife who contains characteristics just like her. He’s honorable in this sense, and I find that to be completely appealing in a character. He’s tough as nails but has a vulnerability to him that hides just below the surface. It takes a lot for him to open up, but when he does, he is sweet and completely sensitive. He holds this exoticness too that you can’t help but find attractive. As a matter of fact, throughout Pointing Leaf, I found myself googling Maori men just to try and put a mental picture to the beauty that he is described in.

Toni is a kick-butt heroine with a knock your socks off kind of attitude, and I absolutely loved it! She truly was a character who could hold her own, and I was right there with her through it all. She made me want to run out and become a detective due to her fierce and fighting ways. I greatly admired that about her, and wish that more female characters held the true heroine position like she did. She was so fun to read about!

Overall I would have to say that Pointing Leaf was a very enjoyable read. I felt as though each character was written with a great deal of passion and edge behind them, and the development of each character was spot on. Pointing Leaf held the perfect balance of fantasy and reality, and I felt it was a perfect Sunday afternoon escape. I loved the suspense, and mystery Pointing Leaf brought along with it. I also loved how the romance was steamy enough to get your blood pumping, and yet still held an air of mystery during the love scenes. So in the end, I recommend Pointing Leaf to anyone in need of a good romantic suspense, with a love story that will woo you until the end.

Arrow to the Heart by Arlene Webb

Arrow to the Heart, by Arlene Webb, is a quick read with some spiciness and sweetness all wrapped up into one little package.
Dr. Cu has no doubt that love at first sight happens only in fairytales. He knows intimately that it takes a unique blend of chemicals to force two hearts to beat as one. A world-renowned player, he’s accepted his fate. As a God of Love, he’s doomed to remain lonely. But when he opens his eyes and his gaze takes in a woman in need of assistance, he’s shocked to find himself falling, exactly like his many victims.
Naturally, when an arrogant legend is smitten, happiness comes at a price. Cu must fight the powerful Goddess of Love, his controlling mother, in order to protect the mortal who’s captured his fancy.
When his love betrays him, Cu learns how hard a God can hit rock bottom. If he can’t put down the bow and wrap his hand around humility and forgiveness, his destined love will remain a myth.
CU is the son of the Goddess of Love, and The God of War. In short, he is a modern day cupid with the ability to make people fall in love with the simple shot of his arrow. Unfortunately for him, love is something he has yet to experience himself. He’s not even sure if love is in the cards for him at all. Cu secretly desires the utter love and devotion that he provides for others around him, even if he’s never actually admitted to himself.

At the annual Valentines Gala, Cu meets a strawberry blonde beauty who instantly challenges his mind. Something like this has never happened before, and he finds it absolutely fascinating. Her name is Cheia, and she is brought to him in his private room due to the fact that she is the only woman at the Gala to wear red, which is completely forbidden. She has drawn the attention of many others at the Gala, and therefore she has now upstaged his mother, which is an even bigger no-no. Cu can’t help but be drawn to Cheia as well though, and he knows without a doubt that she is perfect for him. Now all he needs to do is convince her to love him for who he really is, and not for what he’s known for. Will Cheia come to know him and love him like he hopes, or will his playboy rumored ways hinder the developing relationship?

Cu and Cheia have an immediate connection that was based on attraction and intrigue. They seem to be complete opposites, but opposites do attract. Cu is a fairly arrogant man who is used to getting what he desires. I didn’t care for Cu too much because of this aspect, but it’s understandable since he is considered so desirable by woman and men all around him. Cheia, on the other hand seemed a little more down to earth. She was a kind person with an eagerness to please. I felt she was the more enjoyable of the two main characters.

Arrow to the Heart was definitely a quick read, with a good balance of erotic intimacy, and decent conversation between the hero and heroine. The back story of each character lacked a bit, especially having to do with Cheia. I didn’t get a good feel for who she was at all, and was hoping to learn a bit more about her as an individual. There were parts of Arrow to the Heart that left me a little confused due to the fact that the plot was slightly rushed. I’m all for love at first sight, but in Arrow to the Heart, the instantaneous love these individuals share never felt quite real enough for me. Arrow to the Heart did hold a lot of promise for a good story. If the plotline and characters were slightly more explored and expanded, then Arrow to the Heart could have been so much more. So overall I would suggest if you need something quick and sexy to pass the time, then Arrow to the Heart may be just what you need.
