I enjoyed The Haunting of Amelia Pritchart, it was the perfect Halloween themed paranormal novel. I have always loved a good ghost story, and The Haunting of Amelia Pritchart didn't let me down.Amelia Pritchard's life was in complete shambles. She lived in a house that needed more repairs then she could afford, and she had a bad case of writer's block. The worst part was Amelia was dealing with the divorce to her husband that she still loved. She was torn between telling him that she still had feeling for him or if she should just let it go. Right from the start my heart went out to Amelia. No matter how much she tried to correct things in her life things stayed a mess.Amelia Pritchart’s life is a mess. Her house is crumbling down around her, she’s got a bad case of writer’s block, and divorce papers await her signature. The trouble is, she still loves her husband. And if that’s not bad enough, she comes face to face with a ghost—who has problems of her own. The restless spirit demands Amelia help her tormented soul so she can finally rest in peace. Intrigued, Amelia sets out to grant the wish, but soon finds there’s much more to the ghost than just being dead. When her estranged husband shows up on her doorstep on Halloween, Amelia must face two pasts, both full of pain. Can she help the ghost without becoming eternally haunted? And can she face her own fears and insecurities about her marriage in order to grasp the second chance at happiness her husband offers?
With the repairs that Amelia is doing on the house she woke a ghost who needs her assistance. The ghost wants eternal rest that has been denied to her all these years and only Amelia can help her get it.
I would have love for there to be more heat between Jonathan (Amelia's husband) and Amelia. I liked how Jonathan showed up at Amelia's door step with his own bizarre ghost story. But I have to say that the ghost story was much more interesting then the romance between Jonathan and Amelia. I didn't feel much connection between then and I honestly didn't care if they worked out their martial problems or not.
This is the first time I have read something by Sandra Sookoo and hopefully it won't be the last. The Haunting of Amelia Pritchart is a great paranormal read. It's the perfect book for a cool fall evening, that will help get you into the spirit of Halloween. If you are looking for something spooky for Halloween this isn't it. The Haunting of Amelia Pritchart is a story about a love that survives beyond death.
