Facts about Shannon Rouchelle

1. As a young girl my dream was to become a fashion designer and a children’s writer. I followed my heart and pursued writing.

2. When I was a teenager I attempted to write a novel for Harlequin Romance. It was rejected.

3. In high school I won first prize in an essay contest across Canada.

4. My favorite subject in school was creative writing and art.

5. When I was a teenager I had a boating accident and was stranded in frigid waters for 13 hours. Later, I wrote an article for Guideposts Magazine about my experience.

6. I took a creative writing course from Ottawa, Ontario. It was through this school that I successfully had my first short story, Bloody Bones Behind the Barn, published with The Writer’s Hood.

7. I ran Charlotte’s Web Daycare for many years while pursuing my writing career.

8. I worked for various publishers writing children’s stories in the early part of my career.

9. I wrote my first fantasy teen novel in 2005 and it was published a year later.

10. I collaborated with Toronto artist Cathy Peng on a picture book titled, Jasper Drew Cat, The Kitsville Caper. It was self published.

11. I wrote an inspirational true story for Chicken Soup and it was published in a newsletter. I received fan mail worldwide.

12. I published poetry with Creative Poems for enjoyment.

13. In 2008 Extasy Books published my first adult fantasy novel.

14. In 2008 I was nominated for best teen and adult novel with Dream Realm Awards.

15. My first 5 star review was for the inspirational story, Star Gazer.

16. In 2010 several of my books made it on the top 10 bestseller list with ebook stores.

17. The idea for the adventure series, Leslie Burrows, came from the imagination of friend and priest, James Kaptein.

18. I write for Devine Destinies, a sister company of Extasy Books.

19. I write a variety of genres including: comedy, inspirational, horror, suspense, western, fantasy and romance. My favorite genre is teen fantasy.

20. The picture book series, Jasper Drew Cat, will be published in 2011 by Devine Destinies. My relative, Matt Hoeker, will provide the illustrations.
