Foreign Affair was a book I was looking forward to reading yet a part of me expected the same old scenario. Boy was I surprised! Foreign Affair sucked me in with its realistic characters, humor, and wonderful story telling. It made me feel like I had never read a book with a similar plot.

Lena is a bit naive, she has been with her high school sweetheart for about ten years and they still aren’t married! The sex is boring when it happens, conversations are awkward and well he is just a big jerk. When her best friend presents her with a two week trip to Europe, Lena isn’t looking for a Foreign Affair, but it finds her. I liked Lena’s sense of humor, her down to earth feel, and her willingness to jump into a few new things (even if it takes a little push).

Tyler is in Europe on business when he meets Lena and her best friend Stephanie. Instantly attracted to Lena, he can’t understand her hot and cold feelings but he keeps pushing anyway. While Tyler is in Europe with Lena he is a wonderful character – romantic, thoughtful, sexy – but when they have their big blowout, he is a real jerk for awhile. In the end, I liked Tyler again so it all works.

Foreign Affair is a unique, funny, and emotional story that will take you on a whirlwind ride through Europe as well as emotionally. There are so many layers to Tyler and Lena that things never seem to work out as planned and yet thy just keep going. Foreign Affair is one of those sweet yet sexy books that I will keep on my self for a long time to come. It touches all the right notes and leaves you wanting more of Lena and Tyler in your life.
