Law Enforcement personnel save innocents all the time. How far does one go to save them? Risk a six month undercover operation…okay. But what if it’s a precarious situation that calls for ‘hurting’ the innocent in order to save them? Breathless Surrender questions where that line could be when attraction in both the innocent and the officer are involved.
Months of running into her sexy new neighbor takes a toll on Alexis' libido. There's interest in his smoky gaze every time they meet, but he seems reluctant to ask her out. And other than a slight nod, and a polite hello, that's all they share. About to take matters into her own hands, she finds herself thrown into a situation that could end her life. With nothing but erotic fantasies of Alexis to warm his bed at night, Reid knows he has to stay away from her until his undercover assignment is over. But when a coldblooded initiation to prove he's trustworthy forces him to involve her, there's nothing to keep him from claiming her.
Special Agent Reid Masters of the FBI has been working for six month undercover as Mike Dunstin. As part of his assignment trying to catch a twisted drug lord, he rented an apartment overlooking this guy’s warehouses at the harbor. But he didn’t count on meeting Alexis. He was instantly attracted to her from the start, and her body language says she returns the attraction. Standard investigation of those around him when on a case indicates that she is his type as well. Alexis is family orientated, visiting her mom regularly, working in the family restaurant, and not involved with anyone for six months. But he has been resisting even doing more than nodding hello to her for fear of involving her in his current case.
All his good intentions go out the window when she is kidnapped to used as his “initiation” with the drug lord he is trying to get to trust him. While he case is important, Alexis is much more so. But the guy he is after is sick/twisted and if Reid tries anything unexpected to save Alexis, it could cost both them their lives. What is he to do? How can he save her without hurting her? And will she forgive him her kidnapping/involvement afterward?

Get out the cold drinks for Breathless Surrender. This is one scorching read that gets right to the point and never backs down. Even the undercover work and catching the bad guy are background ideas; the whole focus of Breathless Surrender is the action between Reid and Alexis. Reid comes across very dedicated and almost heroic in being willing to not even start a light friendship until after this case is over in order to protect Alexis. We don’t know that much about Alexis, just that she is the regular girl next door. She should have been more upset with Reid, she seems to understand, accept the situation a little too quickly for what I would expect from a girl suppose to be living in New York City. Other than that, Breathless Surrender works really well, particularly for two people all but mooning over each other for months on end (lol).
Breathless Surrender has lots of between the sheets action involving the ‘girl next door’ and a sexy FBI agent. Does it get much better than this? A quick fantasy to distract us from everyday stress, this will go on my re-read, keep shelf.
