Character Interview with Rafe McBride from Rafe's Redemption

As part of the spotlighting of Rafe's Redemption we are doing another character interview but this time with  Rafe McBride. Also don't forget about the Sizzling Read of the Month Contest.

I see you were a St. Louisan and a Captain in the Union Army. Can you tell us how you ended up a trapper in the mountains of Colorado?

Because of circumstances that happened on my way home from war, I couldn't stay in St. Louis. I was disowned by my family.

Will you tell us about that?

Let's just say, I had a powerful enemy hunting me and staying at home wasn't an option. It was safer for everyone if I wasn't around.

Why Colorado?

Why not? I stopped in this little town on day -- Cougar Creek -- and planned to stay just one night. Two years later, I'm still here.

So you have friends in Cougar Creek?

Yes, a couple of men I trust.

Hmmm. So you're distrustful of most people? Why?

If you'd witnessed the things I have, you'd be slow to trust too.

Then what made you buy Maggie from the auction block? Since you don't like people much.

I couldn't leave her to the men in town. Most of them use women in the worst way -- treat them worse than they treat their horses. Maggie's cousin was a man like that. Once I saw her. . . I had to help.

And are you sorry you got involved?

*laughs* Oh, at first I wanted to kick my own ass for getting involved. But it wasn't because I didn't like her. She just scared me. She made me feel again, something I'd avoided for two years. Thank God she had enough smarts for both of us. She never gave up on me. Without her, my life would be nothing.

But even though you came from a wealthy family, your current circumstance were hardly up to a standard Maggie was used to. Didn't that worry you?

Yes. For a long time. Until I got to know the real Maggie. She's not one to conform to tradition. In fact, the key to our happiness has been learning to compromise. I'll confess, we're both a little stubborn.

So does that mean you argue?

Let's just say we have some heated discussions. But when we make up it gets even hotter.

Well, OK then! Thanks for being here with us today, Rafe.

Thank you for having me.

Don't forget the Sizzling Read of the Month Giveaway. Contest ends March 30th at 11:59pm EST, and the winner will be announced on March 31st.

Glad to meet Rafe here. He sounds like the kind of man any woman would like to be stranded in a cabin with. Maggie's a lucky lady.

Thanks for bringing him, Jennifer.

I love the way Rafe's answer reveal his character without giving away the story.

I feel like I know him better already and I can't wait for my copy to get here! LOL And Cougar Creek made me laugh - just the innuendo it provided although I have no idea if that was intentional on your part Jenn! Nice interview :)
