Forget Me Not by Linda Morris

Forget Me Not by Linda Morris is a contemporary romantic suspense. Linda Morris’s writing flows and is easy to follow. Forget Me Not has just enough suspense through out the plot to keep you reading until the last page. The chemistry between the main characters sizzles right off the pages. Forget Me Not is jam packed full of danger, action, and romance.
Lara Crosby left Chicago when her career as a big-time political fundraiser turned very ugly. Determined to put the past behind her, she envisions a peaceful new life at her cabin in northern Minnesota. Everything changes on a dark night when a mysterious and attractive stranger suffers an accident outside her cabin.
Jacob Sumner awakes in the wilderness after a car accident with no idea who he is or why he was coming to see Lara Crosby. She's beautiful and sweet, but she's a world away from the gritty world where he makes his living as a private investigator…or is she?
Lara Crosby moved to the Ely out in the Minnesota country to get away from politics, city life, and her mother’s meddling. She’s content but all that is about to change. On a stormy night the power goes out and Lara knows something is not right. There is nothing wrong with the breaker switches. When she hears noises that are not normal to the season, she decides to find out the source. You never know if someone may need help. What she finds is a wrecked truck on the side of the road with the driver still in it, and he is unconscious. When she investigates further he comes to and tells her to back away from the truck. She is not sure who he is and why he is was coming down her driveway but one thing she knows for sure is he exudes danger.

Jacob Summer maybe a retired policeman but his instincts are still functioning at full force, which is good because he has no idea who he is, how he got here, where here is, and who that woman is standing outside his truck. He has no past because he cannot seem to recollect it. All he knows is that his truck is wrecked and there is a beautiful woman in front of him. Who is she? Why is she there? He didn’t know but he was sure going to find out.

After finding Jacob in his wrecked truck Lara offers to help him with his wounds and to give him shelter for the night. Little did she know that her life was about to take a turn for the worse. The next day they are shot at and have to run for their lives; barley escaping to a nearby island for a safe place to hide for the night he provides her with much needed solace. From then on they play a game of cat and mouse with unknown assailants while their attraction to each other only grows stronger. Will he find out who he is? Why he was there that first night? Together they examine her past and try to figure out why there is a contract out on her. Will they figure it out in time? Will she be able to let go and completely trust Jacob?

Forget Me Not is full of great secondary characters. The villains are truly bereft of morals and are a great contrast to Jacob and Lara’s characters. It was fun “watching” Jacob and Lara grow together throughout the book. I don’t normally read amnesia stories but Forget Me Not sounded promising. The only complaint that I can fathom (and it is not much of one at all), is the fact that I was able to figure out who the villain was before the villain was revealed. I personally love it when the author keeps you guessing right until the end. Other than that Forget Me Not is a great contemporary romantic suspense read. Especially if you love a good sappy romance like I do. There are a few unexpected twists and turns in the plot that keep you turning the pages. All in all Forget Me Not is worth reading.
