Sam's Promise by Anne Rainey

Sam’s Promise by Anne Rainey is a charming romance. Sam and Julie are a sweet couple. I enjoyed reading it very much. Sam’s Promise has just enough story to satiate the reader’s curiosity. There is just enough back story and it doesn’t leave too much to question at the end. Readers will find themselves falling in love with Sam and Julie and be fully immersed in the world Anne Rainey has created.
This Thanksgiving comes with all the fixings…and something extra hot.
Blackwater, Book 1
Sam Jennings promised his father he’d always take care of the woman who yanked him and his four brothers out of foster care. When his adoptive mom has a near-fatal heart attack, Sam knows it’s past time to live up to his word.
As he sets out to put the Blackwater Diner back on its feet, he runs into his first snag. Waitress Julie Rose’s sweet curves and long legs are driving Sam to distraction. Even his brothers aren’t immune to her kind heart. But Sam is determined to be the only man in her bed.
Julie doesn’t regret the years she lost caring for her grandmom, but now, between business classes and her job, she’s left with very little time and energy for dating. Then there’s her policy about never getting mixed up with the boss’s son. But Sam’s hard body and wicked ideas have Julie forgetting all about annoying things like rules, and she accepts his invitation to show her all she’s been missing.
Sam is more than willing to take things slow as he teaches her all about the pleasures of the flesh. Luckily for him, Julie is a darned good student…
Product Warnings: Contains explicit language, a sexy carpenter, and extra helpings of naughty fun under the stars. Heat and increased heart rate may help burn off extra holiday calories.
Julie is finally getting things together in her life. She has a job with a wonderful woman and is about to finish up her business degree. She had put her life on hold for a little while to care for her ailing grandmother. It was a sacrifice she would gladly do again. She was there for her in her hour of need just like her grandmother was for her throughout her life. Julie didn’t have time for romance, her plate was already full. Then she meets her employer’s four sons. Each of them are gorgeous but only one of them catchers her eye. She finds herself thinking about him a lot and she can’t seem to help it. When he expresses an interest in her too she is not sure she wants to take that risk. He is everything she could want or ask for in a man, so what is holding her back? Is it her lack of experience? Is it the fact that he is her boss’s son? Can she find love with Sam? Or will it end unpleasantly?

When Sam’s mother has a heart attack unexpectedly he runs to her side. After all he owed her everything, and he had made a promise to his father before he died. He promised that he would watch out for her. When he realizes that their restaurant might close he has to come up with a plan to save it. There is only one problem…Julie she is a distraction. He is intrigued by her and he wants to get to know her more, but he needs to concentrate. He can’t get her out of his mind. When he can’t fight his feelings anymore he decides to pursue her. She is hesitant at first and he is willing to play by her rules. He promises to take things slow even though that is the last thing he wants to do. Can he convince her that they are meant to be together? Or will he be shut out of her world forever? Can he save his mother’s restaurant and have Julie too? Or will he have to choose between the two?

I found Sam’s Promise a very poignant story. Sam and his brothers had to endure a lot of unhappiness before they found a happy home. My heart was warmed by their mother’s character. Her and her husband were very special people and meant a lot to Sam and his four brothers. I found Julie’s character to be tender hearted and very sweet. I liked that Sam’s character was able to triumph in life even though he had had a rough start. Sam’s Promise is a very warm and endearing story. Every character played an important role in this heartwarming tale about overcoming trials, love, and life. I would highly recommend Sam’s Promise to all my friends and to those who enjoy contemporary romances.
